Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Where is FDF being held this year?

Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, CA. Feb. 12-15, 2009.

Q: There are rumors that things have changed dramatically with the program…is this true?

Not at all. The only thing that has changed is a fresh and energetic new group of Board of Trustees who are working diligently to develop this year’s program while continuing to build the foundation for the future.

Q: I heard FDF might be canceled. Is this true?

No way! FDF is one of the largest, most vibrant ministries we have in our Metropolis. It will never go away. In fact, we are constantly looking for ways to improve it and make it even better for the future.

Q: What are some potential future locations for FDF?

We are currently looking at several cities to host FDF. We know our dancers and attendees come from all over the west coast and beyond and we are making every effort to select destinations that work best for our program and budget. Some cities we have looked into for the near future are San Jose, Long Beach, Sacramento, Phoenix and Anaheim.

Q: Will FDF still be held during President’ s Day weekend in 2010, considering it falls during Great Lent?

No. But not to worry, this a rare occurrence that only happens every twenty years or so. As Orthodox Christians, we need to be mindful of our activities during this time period, as Great Lent is a time of prayer and reflection. Currently, we are looking to move FDF 2010 to another convenient holiday weekend. We will let you know as soon as we confirm.

Q: I heard you have to be 21 to work on the management team. Is this true?

Yes. In the past we have had team members of various ages but we feel it is more efficient and appropriate for all Management Team members to be at least 21 years of age. But don’t worry, you’ll be there before you know it.

Q: I would like to volunteer for FDF. Who do I contact?

We welcome and appreciate volunteers. If you are interested in helping out during the FDF weekend, just email us at: sffolkdance@sanfran.goarch.org

Q: It seems like the cost of the program increases every year. Why?

Unfortunately, the program is very expensive to put together and the cost of facilities, taxes and service fees fluctuate year to year. Going forward, one of our main goals is to reevaluate our needs and make the program as affordable as possible.

Q: Why does it take so long to get through the registration line?

The first day is always the busiest. With so many people arriving at the same time and in large groups, it’s hard to determine how quickly we can register everyone. We are working on streamlining the registration process and making it more efficient to get you in and out of there as quickly as possible. Take the time in line to hang out and catch up with old friends and we promise we'll have a bracelet waiting for you.
